A Warm Welcome to Our Friends from Vence!
Stamford in Lincolnshire and Vence in the south of France have been twinned since the late 1970s, fostering a beautiful relationship built on culture, language, and joie de vivre. This year, with the Paris Olympics about to get underway, it was a pleasure to host a delegation from Vence.
On Wednesday, July 24th, we warmly welcomed our French friends who stayed with local host families for the week. Among our esteemed guests are ‘la Reine de Vence et de ses demoiselles d'honneur’—the Queen of Vence and her bridesmaids. This year, Manon Lesueur was crowned the 92nd Queen of Vence, accompanied by her maids of honour, Guilia Vergano and Anaïs Château-Artaud, all high school students from France. They graced us with their presence in traditional dress during a lovely Stamford Twinning Association reception at Stamford Town Hall.
These visits are a testament to the strong bonds of friendship and cultural exchange that our twinning initiatives foster. We look forward to many more years of this enriching partnership.
Stamford is also proud to be twinned with Kutna Hora in Czechia since 1999 and Gostomel in Ukraine since December. Our community is enriched by these global connections, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share and celebrate our diverse heritage.
Let’s continue to build bridges and celebrate our international friendships!
